Minister Nemcha exhorts weavers to strive for excellence

Textiles, Commerce & Industry minister Nemcha Kipgen
on Saturday inaugurated the NKC
Handloom Showroom run by award
winner artisan by Chongboi Kipgen
at Koite, Churachandpur in the presence of Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip.
The minister also launched Hank
to Bobbin Winding Machine during
the event.
Highlighting the various schemes
being implemented by Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles for the
welfare of weavers and artisans of
the state, Nemcha encouraged the
weavers and the artisans to produce
the best products to showcase the
rich handloom and handicrafts of
the state to the world.
She further expressed that such
platform contributes in uplifting
socio-economic life of the people,
especially women folk and helps
in generating employment opportunity.
It may be mentioned that Manipur has around 2.12 lakh handloom
weavers, around 2.11 lakh looms and
around two lakh handicraft artisans
as per the National Handloom Census
Report, 2019.

While pledging commitment to
promote the handloom industry
sector and noting its growing popularity and practice in every nook
and corner of the state, she observed
that those who perform great things
in the world are not the rich people
and substantiated her observation by
referring to PM Narendra Modi, who
she said has done and unparalleled
success in-spite of belonging to a
humble family.
Hard work, determination and
discovery of talent are essential to
be successful in life, Nemcha maintained and also commended Chongboi for her hard work and resilience.
She also urged the proprietor to
propose a site for setting up of a
Common Facility Centre while requesting the local MLA Paulienlal
to do the needful for to prepare a
DPR so as to approach the Union
government to provide fund.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA
Paulienlal called upon all concerned
to contribute their mite in improving the local and state's economy
along with urging the community
leaders and civil societies to extend
maximum cooperation to all hard
working individuals.
