"Murmu's election testifies women empowerment"

president A Sharda Devi has
stated that the appointment
of Droupadi Murmu, a woman from the Scheduled Tribe
community, as the new President of India, is the affirmation of women realising their
dreams in every sphere and
not just in politics.
She was speaking at a function organised to celebrate the
election of Droupadi Murmu
as the new President of India,
at Thambal Shanglen of BJP
office here on Saturday.
Sharda remarked that society previously regarded women to have no political vision
but the scene has changed
under the PM Narendra Modi
government as women are
encouraged to participate
more in the political space in
addition to social, economic, culture and other areas.
Women have been exhorted
to work hard towards realizing their dreams.
Apart from
her (Sharda) being appointed
as the party president, many
female cabinet ministers have
been appointed, which is a
sign of a huge step towards
women empowerment in the
state.
While lauding president-elect Droupadi Murmu's works till date, Sharda
also appreciated PM Narendra
Modi for nominating Murmu as the NDA presidential
candidate and helping to
uplifting her to the highest
platform of the country.
It
was the then PM Atal Bihari
Vajpayee who elected then
President Abdul Kalam from
the minority community, she
recalled and remarked that it
is a proud moment to see PM
Modi's vision of 'Sabka Saath,
Sabka Vikas, Sabka Visheshan
and Sabka Prayas' becoming
a reality.
Narrating Droupadi Murmu's life history including the
loss of her husband and two
sons, the party president stated that Murmu entered politics
after winning the MLA seat
of Rairangpur, Odisha, and
also served as the minister of
Human and Resource Development at the time.
When she
was appointed as the Governor
of Jharkhand, she resolved
over 5000 cases.
She also made
strong emphasis on education.
Sharda then appreciated
PM Modi for standing by his
words to empower the weaker
sections, while adding that
the celebratory function is
also organised to remind the
people, especially the women of the northeast of their
roles in ensuring a united and
strong India.
The function was also attended by Saitu chief and retired IRS Tengmang, Hangkichoi chief Haokholen Kipgen,
Kamjong district Renrei village
chief Simdhur Zimik and Singta village chief Christianson
among others.
