IRB team seizes drugs worth Rs 1.5 cr

Imphal, July 23 2022:
Following the authorisation of IRB personnel to arrest drug peddlers
under War on Drugs 2.0 by
the government, a team of 8th
India Reserve (CDO) Battalion, Khabeisoi, apprehended
a youth along with drugs on
Friday.
The arrest further led
to seizure of drugs worth Rs
1.5 crore.
The arrested youth has
been identified as Md Raj
Khan (20) son of Kh Salimuddin of Yairipok Ningthounai
Mayai Leikai.
The IRB team
seized 510 grams of brown
sugar from his possession.
According to police source,
the IRB (CDO) team led by its
CO N Madhunimai along with
personnel of NAB Manipur
conducted frisking operation
along Thiyam and Waithou
roads on Friday from around
4 pm after getting information about transportation of
drugs.
The team intercepted
Md Raj Khan, who came on a
Honda Activa bearing registration number MN06SE 7357.
Upon checking, they found
the brown sugar inside the
toolbox of the vehicle.
During questioning, Raj
Khan disclosed that he works
under one Md Feroze, son
of Md Oli of Yairipok Tulihal Toupokpi.
Soon, the
IRB team conducted a raid
at the house of Md Feroze
and seized another 437 gram
of brown sugar, a weighing
machine and Rs 1 lakh cash
in 500-rupee notes.
However, they could not arrest
Md Feroze as he was not at
home.
The source said that
the drugs seized during the
Friday's operation would
worth around Rs 1.5 crore
in the international market.
Md Raj Khan along with
the seized drugs, money and
weighing machine had been
handed over to Irilbung police
station for initiating further
legal actions.
