Imphal, July 23 2022:
Imphal West
Up-adakshya L Bobby has
urged the government to
provide adequate quantity
of fertiliser to farmers living
under Awang Potsangbam
Zila Parishad.
Speaking to media persons at Awang Wabagai
on Saturday, L Bobby expressed concern that paddy
crops planted in fields falling under the Zila Parishad
might fail owing to shortage
of fertiliser even though the
said areas have irrigation
facility.
She said that after chief
minister N Biren approved
allocation of 1500 bags of
fertilisers in early July a total of 300 and 400 bags were
distributed in two phases.
However, the department
concerned has been delaying release of the remaining
800 bags of urea thereby
deepening fear among the
farmers that they might not
get the fertilisers in time.
Bobby the urged authorities concerned to look into
the inconveniences faced
by farmers of the area and
ensure adequate fertilisers
to the farmers when it is
not too late.
She further informed that
denizens under the ZP are
yet to get their full wages under Amrit Sarobar.
Out of the 53 mandays in
2021-22, wages of only 20
days were given and the
remaining are pending for
the last one year, added the
up-adakshya.
Meanwhile, a local farmer
named Kh Binod said that
most of the people living
under the ZP are farmers
and they are facing serious inconveniences due to
dearth of fertilisers.
There is no point of providing fertilisers after the
paddy plants wither, he
remarked.
While expressing hope
that BJP led government
will look into the problems
being faced by farmers,
Binod reiterated the appeal
for providing ferrtilisers to
farmers timely.
