Manipur Sangais crowned champions of 1st North East Women's Football League

Hosts Manipur Sangais were crowned champions of the 1st North East Women's Football League Tournament after a 2-0 beating of Sikkim Pandas in the final today.
The two sides played cautiously and did well to keep their fort intact for a major portion of time.
The hardworking home team however found the lead after 36 minutes courtesy of an own goal conceded by H Sunita Devi.
Y Pakpi then converted a fine chance in the 58th minute off an assist from Kiranbala to double the advantage for the State team.
The Manipur side continued to dominate the possession in the latter part of the game and saw few chances being missed with Sikkim Pandas defenders doing their best.
Sikkim Pandas also had few calls but their efforts either went wide or got parried away by spirited Manipuri defenders to keep their lead intact till the final whistle.
As Manipur Sangais emerged champions and fetch Rs 5 lakh cash award besides trophies and medals, Naocha of Sikkim Pandas who scored 7 goals and recorded 3 assists walked away with the golden boot award.
