With 79 fresh cases, active caseload rises to 596

The active caseload of COVID-19 in Manipur has risen to 596 with the addition of 79 fresh cases in the last 24 hours and the State registered a single day positivity rate of 7.7 per cent.
1,026 samples were tested and 79 returned positive.
Though the State has witnessed a slight dip in the overall positivity rate from 8.4 per cent updated yesterday, the figure crossed double digit mark in all districts except Kakching and Chandel.
Kakching logged positivity rate (TPR) of 9.1 and Chandel logged 5 per cent.
Among the districts, Tamenglong reported the highest TPR at 30 per cent and it is followed by Kangpokpi (25 pc) Tengnoupal (20 pc); Churachandpur (17.8 pc); Imphal East (17.3 pc); Kamjong (14.3 pc); Imphal West (12.8 pc); Thoubal (10.6 pc); Ukhrul (10 pc) and Bishnupur (10 pc) .
The 79 fresh cases which include 15 females were confirmed at RIMS (20), JNIMS (4) and other testing centres (55) and they are residents of Imphal East (22), Imphal West (27), Thoubal (5), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (2), Kangpokpi (5), Kamjong (1), Ukhrul (2), Tamenglong (3), Tengnoupal (1), Churachandpur (8) and Chandel (1) .
The death toll remains unchanged at 2,124 as nd Covid deaths were reported in the period, as per a bulletin issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
At least 93 persons -home isolation (82), RIMS (3), SHRI (7) and Jivan Hospital were discharged after recuperation today while another 34 persons were reported as discharged cases only today due to various reasons.
The recovery rate is 98.04 per cent.
After taking all the figures into account, the State now has 1,38,468 Covid cases, including 5,016 CAPF personnel of which 1,35,748 have recovered.
Yesterday, 71 D-type and 1 B type oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health facilities in Manipur, while 10,778 Covid vaccine doses were administered in the same period.
As per the bulletin, at least 31 Covid beds are vacant at JNIMS (12) and RIMS (19) .
In terms of vaccination, the State has fully vaccinated 53.76 per cent of its eligible population while another 62.14 per cent have taken the 1 st dose.
Kangpokpi remains the least vaccinated district in Manipur as it has fully vaccinated only 17.81 per cent of its eligible population.
