Villagers appeal for security

In view ofthe recent violence, a villlager from Kangvai has earnestly appealed for deployment of security forces at Torbung, Bangla, Kangvai, Phougakchao, Ikhai villages located in the adjoining area between Churachandpur and Bishnupur district.
The unnamed villager continued to say that both the hill and valley dwellers of Torbung village, where the violence initially erupted, are facing a lot of adversities.
With their houses burnt and a majority of villagers fleeing for safety, the village bears a deserted look and cases of theft have increased alarmingly, he shared.
Despite the State Government's assurance to provide ad-equate security and paramilitary forces, none of them can be seen to the south of Phougakchao Police Station in the villages of Kangvai, Torbung, Bangla etc.
This has put the villagers in a state of unease and worry for their well-being, the Kangvai villager added. Therefore, for the welfare of both tribal and non-tribal communities of the area, he called upon the State administra-tion to deploy more security forces in the aforementioned villages.
Separately, he also addressed the incident wherein; some unknown miscreants stuck a banner with the message-"Welcome to Greater Mizoram, Lamka District Kangvai on a transformer at Kangvai Bazar early yesterday moming He said that the banner has added to the villagers' feelings; of unease in the face of the recent turmoil.
Saying that many have started raising questions on.who put the banner there and for what reasori, he sought-the attention of the State Government on the matter.
