Locals demand police outpost at Torbung

Locals of Tor-bung under Chura-chandpur district which faced the wrath of the communal violence have urged the government to set up a police out-post in the area at the earliest.
A team of BJP Ma-nipur Pradesh visited Torbung on Thursday to take stock of the prevailing situation.
The team comprising BJP Manipur Pradesh vice presidents N Nim-bus Singh and L Min - abanta Singh and party spokesperson Elangbam Johnson, held discussion on issues and problems faced by the people of Torbung during which the locals pointed out the need to have a police outpost in the area to safeguard life and prop-erty of the villagers.
The villagers informed the team that there is apprehension about the neighbouring vil-lage harbouring armed cadres of Kuki outfits.
As pre-emptive measures, some villagers still hol-ing out in the village are standing guard round the clock.
Houses in the eastern end of Torbung village have been totally burnt down during the communal violence.
The BJP provided some relief materials and assured to extend help to mitigate suffer-ing of the villagers and also visited the house of late Khoirom Meiraba of Ithai and shared the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family.
