Relief aid pours in for displaced people

A relief camp was opened at Phougakchao Ikhai Mayai Leikai today in Kumbi Assembly Constituency under the aegis of its MLA S Premchandra Singh to shelter people who have been displaced by the unprecedented acts of communal violence and arson.
The relief camp was opened with an objective to restore normalcy in the lives of displaced people of Waikhurok, Bangla, Torbung, Kangvai and Phougakchao Ikhai Maning Leikai in Kumbi AC .
Lava Club has been coordinating to open this camp and has made arrangements to house around 100 displaced people.
Mayang Imphal AC MLA K Robindro donated edible items, utensils, buckets, mats etc through Kumbi AC MLA to be used in the camp.
Speaking at the occasion, K Robindro condemned the unfortunate event of communal violence in the past few days and called for peace, sanity and restraint in the State for a developed and harmonious State.
Further he appealed to all not to fall prey to unfounded rumours which may trigger further communal conflict and hatred.
Expressing concern oh the reports of incidents of theft taking advantage of the current situation, the MLA' appealed to all to refrain from such shameful acts.
Kumbi AC MLA S Premchandra Singh while expressing dismay over the wide scale communal violence which erupted from May 3 last onwards, appealed to all to strive earnestly for peace and harmony in the State setting aside communal differences.
Further he appealed to the people, of Kumbi AC who have been taking shelter in other places to return and stay at relief camps opened in the Constituency.
Many continue to provide aid to relief camps at various areas across the State which have been sheltering affected people by the recent communal violence.
Kakching
Wabagai Assembly Constituency MLA, Dr Usham Deben in association with the residents of Uchiwa Nastao distributed edible items to people who are taking refuge in numerous households in the constituency.
It is worth noting that a number of people from different places across the State who have been displaced by the recent communal clash is taking shelter in many house-holds in Wabagai AC.
The MLA in association with the residents of Uchiwa Nastao distributed edible items such as potatoes pulses, edible oil etc to around 340 displaced people.
The MLA had also distributed edible items earlier to many people who are taking refuge in his Constituency.
Thoubal
Heirok Part I and Part II Ibudhou Yotningthou Haraoba Committee in Thoubal district donated edible items to relief camps at Pioneer Club, Wangjing Hodamba Maning Leikai; Wangjing Sports Complex and Wangjing Keithel today.
A team led by the Committee president Khundrakpam Themba visited the relief camps and handed over the edible items.
Meanwhile, Chaokhat Khongthang Semgat Nupi Lup, Heirok also extended monetary aid to Wangjing Keithel community hall relief camp.
Sana Mahi Laining Lup, Wangjing also donated edible items to Phubala High School, camp and Thamnapokpi relief camp.
