The Food Corporation of India (FCI), Manipur has assured that it has sufficient buffer stock of rice for 120 days (4 months) and advised people against panicking in fear of food/rice scarcity.
A statement issued by Adani Mahrili Mao, Divisional Manager, FCI, Divisional Office, Imphal has expressed its solidarity with those working towards bringing peace and normalcy in the State.
Notably, it added that a total of 2000 metric tonnes of rice have been allocated under Open Market Sale Scheme to be distributed in various relief camps set up for people who have been evacuated from violence hit districts of the State and for other uses.
Approximately, 5000 quintals (10 quintal = 1 mt) of rice have been issued by FCI, Manipur for relief works, it added.
FCI, Manipur has been making all out efforts to help those greatly affected by the recent clashes by supplying rice as per the request of the State Government and the Deputy Commissioners concerned of different districts on the same day the indent of rice is made, it maintained.
FCI, Manipur will continue to support and stand by the people of Manipur and ensure food security, it concluded.
