Y20 Consultancy meet conducted at MU

Y20 Consultancy on "Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance" was held on May 4 in Imphal.
The consultancy was attended by Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Dr RK Ranjan Singh; Manipur University, School Of Engineering, Dean & Y20 Organising Committee chairman, RK Hemakumar Singh aqd Manipur University, Vice Chancellor, Prof N Lokendra Singh as presidium members, said a release issued by Prof WChandbabu Singh, Registrar, Manipur University.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr RK Ranjan shared that Y20 is a platform to create space for young people to freely express their voices and debate with their peers & policy makers.
Prof N Lokendra expressed that the consultancy would provide a platform to the participants to learn from each other.
"As the future lies on the shoulders of the youth, it is.
the responsibility of the people to provide youth with the necessary tools and re-sources", he added.
Prof RK Hemakumar stressed on the need to dis: cuss and find solutions for the challenges people are facing across the globe.
The first session moderated by retired IAS officer, RK Nimai was conducted on the theme, "Youth in Legislature and Politics" .
It was attended by University of Heidelberg, Germany, Dr .Anja-Desiree Senz; Yonsei University, South Korea, Prof Taedong Lee and Manipur University Students' Union vice president, O Premdas as speakers.
The second session on "Youth in Policy-making and Governance was chaired by Manipur University, Department of Sociology, Head, Prof Ksh Rajendra Singh.
The panellists included Sanjoy Mairembam, business consultant, London; Dr N Irina Devi, Mizoram University and Drishti Rawal, Y20 Secretariat, India.
The third session on "Institutionalising Leadership and Governance Training" was moderated by Prof Ksh Rajendra.
The speakers were Dr Banu Tanjakaunder, BTK Consultant, Malaysia; Prof Ramkumar, IIM Raipur; and Terauki Watanabe, director, TMH Green.
The last technical session on the theme "Youth in Community Governance" was moderated by former North Eastern Council chairman & Ukhrul MLA, Ram Muivah.
The speakers included Prof Yukio Maeda, Soko University, Japan; Dr Sonali Kusum, TISS, Mumbai and Vijay Vedantum, ARFC, Hyderabad.
