Peace and harmony call continues; committees formed

Expressing grave concern over the unprecedented scale of violence in the state, several organ-isations have called for peace and harmony in the state and urged all to control emotions for restoring normalcy.
In separate releases, High Court Bar Association of Manipur (HC-BAM), All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA), All Manipur Lady Advo-cates Association (AMLAA), BJP Minority Morcha Manipur Pradesh, Dalit Sahitya Academy Manipur, All Manipur Muslim Youth & Cultural Organisation (AMMYCO), Human Rights Council Manipur, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Manipur State and Lukmai Sellup Foundation appealed to all sections of the society to con-tribute their mite in maintaining peace and also urged not to spread misinformation and rumours which may exacerbate the already volatile situation.
Meanwhile, comparing Manipur to a mini-India, Meitei Churches Advocacy for Peace & Development Manipur (MCAPDM) appealed to all concerned for allaying the volatile situation in the state and ensure normalcy.
It also urged to all concerned not to target Meetei churches.
Amid the volatile situation in the state, Committee for Peace and Harmony, Kakching convened a public meeting of chiefs of village authorities and CSOs (presidents, secretaries, members and repre-sentatives) at Khangshim village community hall in Kakching Lam-khai on Tuesday and resolved to appeal to the authorities concerned for solving the crisis and restoring peace at earliest, putting an end to spread of misinformation/rumours and urging the authorities for ex-tending support and rehabilitating all those affected by the violence.
Lilong Young Social Service Union (LYSSU) also organised a joint meeting of three commu-nities (Meitei, Meitei-Pangal and Kabui) at the hall of Lilong Youth Dramatic Union (LYDU) on Tuesday afternoon and decided to form a Co-ordination Committee of the three communities to solve pre-vailing issues from time to time and maintaining communication to prevent any issue from going out of control.
The meeting also resolved to extend relief materials to all those affected by the recent violence.
Under the leadership of Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeshwor (Keba), a 'Peace and Relief Committee Pat-soi A/C' has also been formed on Tuesday.
The meeting held in the presence of SDO, SDC Patsoi and representatives of local clubs, NGOs and Meira Paibi groups at Kombirei Hall also appointed MLA Sapam Keba as chairman.
Peace Committee, Kakching headed by MLA M Rameshwar was also formed on Wednesday in a meeting held at DC office, Kakching.
It also resolved to distribute food materials to the displaced people in Kakching area, work to prevent unwanted incidents in Kakching AC and distribute relief materials pro-vided by the state government and any other sources in consultation with the Committee.
