Kuki Chiefs safety escort 90 stranded Meiteis

Solam Haopi Area Kuki Chiefs Association in collaboration with Solam Happi Area Youth Development? Organi-zation arranged the safe evacuation of ninety Meetei/ Meitei labourers, including nine women, who were stranded at D Khongkhai, T Seljang and Singjao village under Churachandpur district.
The ninety labourers were given safe passage and handed over to K Ranjit, MLA Sugnu AC and president of Peace Committee Sugnu AC Adjoining Area of Chandel, Churachandpur and Bishnupur District Committee at Lalophai village yesterday.
It is worth mentioning that out of the ninety labourers, 21 are from Thoubal, 10 from different areas in Imphal, 19 from Waikhong area, 8 from Kumbi, 6 from Wangoo, 3 from Pombikhok, 6 from Chairel Mangjil, 11 from Khoijumantabi and one each frorn Khullakpat, Tangjeng and Churachandpur.
The ninety labourers were brought to safety in the presence of MLA K Ranjit, Makhao Area Chief Association Chairman and Laloiphai village chief .KS Baite; Solam Haopi Area Kuki Chief Association Chairman Nganjathang; SDPO Sugnu, Saikot Police Station OC, notable members of Peace Committee Sugnu AC Adjoining Area of Chandel, Churachandpur and Bishnupur District Committee and various representatives of CSOs.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA K Ranjit asserted that the handing over of the ninety labourers to the Peace Committee is clear evidence that the spirit of peace and brotherhood is still alive in Manipur.
He further expressed gratitude towards Solam Haopi Area Kuki Chief Association and Solam Haopi Area Youth Development Organization for keeping the labourers safe and tending to their needs for many days before finally evacuating them safely in their own vehicles.
Notably, the MLA handed over a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh to Nganjathang, Chairman of Solam Haopi Area Kuki Chief Association as a sign of his appreciation.
Raising a call to maintain peace, he opined that Sugnu area should become a model for others to emulate and take inspiration, from to bring back a sense of normalcy in Manipur.
The evacuated labourers were then brought to Sugnu Ching-Tam Community Hall where they interacted with the MLA.
Finally the Peace Committee escorted them back to their respective homes.
