'Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach' campaign launched

The launching and flagging off ceremony for "Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach through Mobile Vans" campaign for all the districts of Manipur was held today at the premises of the High Court of Manipur at Mantripukhri.
Justice P.V.Sanjay Kumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur cum Patron-in-Chief of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in the august presence of his companion judges Justice M.V.Muralidaran, Judge High Court of Manipur and Executive Chairman, MASLSA and Justice A Bimol Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur and Chairperson, High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC) launched the Door to Door Outreach Campaign by flagging off the Mobile Vans at 9.30 AM from the High Court of Manipur premises, said a press note by MASLSA.

Ojesh Mutum, Member Secretary, MASLSA along with the respective Chairpersons and Secretaries of the all-District Legal Services Authorities also attended the programme.
Ojesh Mutum gave a brief introduction and highlighted the objectives of the campaign before the flagging off ceremony.
It may be mentioned that the mobile vans intend to cover all the 67 sub-divisions and around 2581 villages of Manipur spreading awareness about Welfare Laws & Schemes enacted for empowerment of people; the Constitution of India- Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Duties; Free Legal Aid & Services provided by the Legal Services Institutions; Digital initiatives for approaching institution- The Vidhi Chatbot, WhatsApp chatbot, Legal Aid Case Management System, Legal Services Management System, Online Mediation Portal among others; Rights and remedies available under various laws.
The door to door campaign will be supervised and executed by Outreach Teams constituted at each DLSA level comprising of Judicial Officers, State/District Administration Officials, Members of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs), Social Workers, Anganwadi Workers, Panel Lawyers, Para Legal Volunteers, Law Students etc., under the overall supervision of Secretary of District Legal Services Authority.
The Door to Door Campaign Outreach Team will mobilise the masses through one-to-one interaction to attend the various legal awareness camps and initiatives to be launched by each DLSA covering village level, community level and schools and colleges.
A wide range of topics on basic legal subjects will be covered during the campaign such as accessing Courts and legal remedies, procedures for filing complaints in police stations, rights of arrested persons and suspects, victim Compensation Schemes and so on.
