Noney, November 03 2022:
An emergency meeting organised by Villages Council Longmai Area and Naga Women's Union Longmai Area with the medical staff of Noney PHC led by CMO Dr Z Kamei was held on Thursday at the office chamber of the CMO.
The meeting discussed various long-pending issues, mainly shortage of medical officers/doctors at Noney PHC for round-the-clock services including emergency and delivery cases, and problem faced by the people of Longmai area due to absence of basic health services.
The meeting was held as no positive action was taken up by the health department concerned regarding a number of issues raised by the CSOs of Longmai area through the Noney deputy commissioner during the 4th District Hill leaders' Day and Meeyamgi Numit on October 28, 2022 at Longmai-3 multipurpose hall.
Dr Z Kamei and Noney PHC MO in-charge Dr Yaiwang apprised the gathering on the present situation and issues faced by Noney PHC.
The meeting resolved to launch indefinite total bandh on NH-37 from November 16 if the state government fails to take steps to solve the problems besetting the Noney PHC within November 15.If the government does not redress the grievances of the public, then it is useless conducting Hill Leaders' Day, Meyamgi Numit and the so-called mission 'Chief Minister Health for all' etc., pointed out CSO leaders present at the meeting.
It is worth mentioning that there is only one doctor on duty at the Noney PHC out of five allopathic doctors.
Shortage of lab technician, ANM nurses, ambulance drivers as well as breakdown of the two ambulances, non-maintenance of PHC power supply system (generator- & solar plant battery), water supply system and incomplete staff quarter construction were the major problems faced by the Noney PHC.
