Keirao MLA bats for Meetei-Pangal unity

Planning and Development Authority (PDA) chairman and Keirao MLA Lourembam Rameshwor has called for unity between Meetei and Meetei Pangal communities for a stronger Manipur while keeping aside past mistakes and differences.
Speaking at the chief guest at the inaugural function of the 1st U Trophy State Level Open Football Tournament organised by Urup Makha Youth Development Association at Urup Chingya playground on Thursday, the MLA recounted that there were some unfortunate incidents in the past between Meetei and Meetei Pangal but it is time to leave behind those episodes and stay united for a better and stronger Manipur.
Stating that Urup, Keirao and Kyamgei are the main clusters of Meetei Pangal in Keirao assembly constituency and these areas have high literacy rate, he confided that there are plans to take up different development initiatives in these areas.
Laying of water pipeline has been completed and most of the roads blacktopped in the last term except for a few, the MLA said and declared that road projects will not be awarded to local people but engage contractors who have own machineries for ensuring quality work.
Rameshwor also assured of developing the Keirao as a model constituency and appreciated the assurance given by Imams to act against drugs, which they made during a meeting with chief minister N Biren.
He further urged the Imams to inform police if they have any information regarding illegal drugs and stressed on the importance that the locals should not hide if there are drug users in their families.
Instead, they should inform the authority concerned to save them from addiction and bring them back to normal life, he said.
The MLA further said that the construction of a Haj House has begun while discussion is on with the chief minister regarding a proposal for construction of a mega hall for Thang-Ta under NEC funding.
An agro market shed will be constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore at Shantipur and the road connecting MU with Phunal Ningthou, Sandrok will be renovated soon, he maintained, adding that site identification is in progress to construct a mega structure for offering prayer by Meetei Pangal.
MLA Rameshwor also announced cash reward for farmers with highest volume of crop harvest from this year onwards.
The award winning farmer will be selected from among the farmers under the jurisdiction of Keirao assembly constituency and a committee will be formed soon in this regard.
Keirao Makting GP pradhan Mukhtiyar and Irilbung PS OC Paojenlung Kamei also attended the inaugural function of the tournament.
