Chief justice launches campaign on legal services

As a part of the Pan India Campaign, which is being conducted from October 31 to November 13 for bridging the gap between the institutions and the underprivileged section of the society by creating awareness and ensuring delivery of legal entitlements to eligible beneficiaries, Manipur High Court chief justice and Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) patron in-chief PV Kumar launched mobile vans for door-to-door campaign from the Mantripukhri premises of the High Court on Thursday.
The launch programme was attended by MASLSA executive chairman and Manipur HC judge MV Muralidaran, High Court Legal Services Committee chairperson A Bimol, MASLSA member secretary Ojesh Mutum, chairpersons of district legal service authorities and secretaries.
Speaking at the event, Ojesh Mutum informed that the main objective of the campaign is to give awareness to 2582 villages under 67 sub divisions of Manipur about welfare laws, schemes, fundamental rights and duties enshrined in the constitution, free legal aid and services provided by legal services institutions, The Vidhi Chatbot, Whatsapp Chatbot, legal aid case management system, legal services management system, online mediation portal and rights and remedies given by law.
The campaign will be conducted by outreach team including judicial officers, state/district administration officials, Child Welfare Committee members, Juvenile Justice Board members, social workers, Anganwadi workers, panel lawyers, para legal volunteers and law students.
It will also spread the message to participate mega legal camps on November 6, legal services day function and legal services exhibition on November 9 and National Lok Adalat and other legal camps on November 12, he said.
Similarly, DLSA, Ukhrul also launched door to door campaign for Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
CJM and DLSA secretary Heeralata Moirangthem flagged off the campaign in the presence of JMFC, Ukhrul PA Phungreishung, legal functionaries and panel lawyers, remand lawyers, PLVs and staff of DLSA, Ukhrul.
The outreach program is scheduled to cover all the eight sub divisions of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
