Awareness on NHB schemes conducted

Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation organised a one-day awareness programme on farmers' schemes under National Horticulture Board (NHB) and their benefits at the training hall of Agriculture Department near Sanjenthong, here, on Monday.
Horticulture and Soil Conservation joint director Md Zakir Hussain Khan, NHB Guwahati deputy director Navanita Barua Mahanta and Axis Imphal Cluster GBRM Dany Khartu Monsang attended the programme as members on the dais.
Addressing the participants, Md Zakir said that NHB is a national board aimed at helping farmers in order to bring development in the horticulture sector and enhance farmers' income.
There are several schemes implemented under the board that provide benefits in integrated post-harvest management, cold storage, and market linkage among others, he said, while encouraging farmers to take maximum benefits of such schemes.
In their addresses, Navanita Barua Mahanta elaborated on different schemes of NHB helpful to Farmers' Producer Companies and horticulture farmers as ICAR, Manipur Centre horticulture scientist Dr Chongtham Taniya spoke on modern farming technique in horticulture sector.
