Imphal, March 18 2024:
Former MLA N Loken alleged multiple flaws in respect of Nambol assembly constituency polling number 24/3 (Utlou-B) in the Electoral Roll-2024 released ahead of the 18th Lok Sabah elections by Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur.
Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan, here, on Monday, Loken contended that the Electoral Roll-2024, has photos of electors but without names in respect of Nambol assembly constituency whereas in certain cases, no mention is made of parents or spouses of electors.
In this connection, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) had submitted a written complaint to the Manipur CEO for necessary actions against the authority concerned.
He further informed that 104 residents of the relief camp set up at SAI Complex, Utlou were found included in the electoral roll under polling station number 24/3 Utlou-B) of Nambol AC but without clear-cut details of the camp residents enrolled in the electoral rolls.
All these errors have detected in the polling station of the incumbent Nambol MLA, Loken maintained, while opining that such erroneous enrolment, either due to negligence or intentional in Nambol AC, compels one to question integrity of BJP MLAs and their allies in other assembly segments.
He also pointed out that in-spite of mandate of the election conducting authority that no officials including MCS officers should be posted in his/her home district during the time of election, the then Nambol SDO, transferred to Jiribam, has been re-posted as Nambol BDO on March 5.The said case has been placed in the form of a complaint to the CEO with an appeal for necessary measures, Loken said.
While appealing to the public not to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, he stressed on the importance of exercising one's franchise right to not only elect the people's representative but also teach befitting lesson to the government which has failed to protect lives and properties of the people.
