Rules under election code of conduct announced

Imphal, March 18 2024:
Along with the announcement of the 18th Lok Sabha election 2024 and the subsequent coming into force of the election code of conduct, rules to be followed under the code of conduct has been announced.
According to the public appeal issued by the district election officer/DC of Inphal East, carrying of more than Rs 50,000 in cash, contraband drugs and illicit liquor of any kind has been prohibited and police department has formed flying squad teams and static surveillance team to check such activities.
The public appeal also made it clear that giving or accepting any gratification in cash or kind during election process is punishable with imprisonment up to one year or with fine or both.
Undue presence of threat of any kind to the candidate of voter is also is punishable with imprisonment for one year or with fine or both.
Seizure of Cash Committee and monitoring teams have also been constituted, it specified and advised the public to report any kind of violation to the sector officer/special executive magistrate, flying squad teams and surveillance teams.
The public appeal also informed that district control room has been set up and any violation of code of conduct can be reported at the district toll free number 1950, CVigil citizen app ECI website https://eci-citizenservices.eci.nic.in .
