New version of 'ln the Rhythm of Corona" staged

The new version of Tn the Rhythm of Corona', the 31st production of Liberty Theatre Kakching was showcased at the auditorium of Library and Information Centre, here on Monday.
Liberty Theatre president Yambem Satya, playwright Kshetri Sanajaoba and Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Kolkata Board of Governors member Budha Chingtham attended the event as presidium members.
The play shows the dancer's daily activities including practice and news reading among others.
While reading newspaper, the dancer comes across news about the spread of Covid-19, preventive and containment measures taken up by the government.
She also expresses her resentment saying that all the crisis and problems faced by mankind are results of their own doings.
Disturbed by the news of people becoming victim to the pandemic, sounds of ambulance siren, the dancer tries to focus on her dance.
Filled with pain and anger, the dancer picks up pace while verbally challenging the Coronavirus to take her life if it can, only to get exhausted and fall on the ground with a faint voice cursing the virus and the pandemic.
Uttamkumar Naorem wrote the script, designed and directed the play, which depicts the thoughts of a dancer played by Salam Madhuri.
