Imphal, March 18 2024:
Anganwadi workers under the aegis of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) state unit staged sit-in protest in front of the Social Welfare Department, North AOC, on Monday demanding extension of service period up to 65 years as approved by the Central government.
Interacting with the media at the protest site, BMS state president L Sanatombi said that the Anganwadi workers have been working selflessly for which the Central government extended their service period up to 65 years in recognition of their contribution.
Unfortunately, the state government has not implemented the same for the Anganwadi workers.
Even as they have been demanding extension of service period, the government recently issued a recruitment notification for filling up different vacant posts which they strongly condemn, she said.
The state president also demanded the government to reserve 50 per cent of the vacant seats of supervisor for Anganwadi workers with experience of 20 years and above.
