Kakching, February 14 2024:
Refuting an allegation raised by the Serou Development Committee, Deputy Commissioner of Kakching, Somoijit Salam has clarified that money for reconstruction/repairing of houses of beneficiaries has been released and credited to their respective bank accounts.
The allegation raised by the Serou Development Committee yesterday that the money has not been credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries is not true.
The money has already been transferred to the bank accounts of 10 beneficiaries, said Somorjit Salam in a press meet held at his office at Kakching today.
While 12 beneficiaries, whose houses have been damaged during the present conflict, were given dummy cheques earlier, money for 10 of them has been released.
The money for the remaining two has not been released as they have not yet submitted the required documents, he said.
"After the allegation was raised against the office of the Deputy Commissioner, the account concerned was checked yesterday and it was found that the money had already been credited to the bank accounts of 10 beneficiaries.
"Further, the Sub-Divisional Officer of Waikhong has visited the two remaining beneficiaries and taken details of their bank accounts.
The money will be released to their accounts soon," Somorjit said.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the beneficiaries to check their bank account balance.
