1st NE Women's Football League Tournament : Manipur Sangais beat Meghalaya Leopards 1-0 to take unassailable lead

Manipur Sangais became runaway leaders in the 1 st North East Women's Football League Tournament with a slender 1-0 win against Meghalaya in their last league tie today.
With the result Manipur Sangais have consolidated themselves at the top of the league table with 19 points from six wins and a draw as Sikkim Pandas who also capped their league campaign with a 3-2 win against Arunachal Pradesh Tigers today are second with 14 points from three wins and two draws.
The lone goal that earned Manipur Sangais sixth win today was scored by N Priyanka Devi in the 22nd minute.
The State team which have not conceded a single goal so far, played cautiously today and made sure that Meghalaya Leopards charges are kept at bay with strong defensive performance.
Eventually they saw out the game 1-0 to rack up another three points and get ready for the semifinal of the 8-team tournament being hosted by the All Manipur Football Association under the sponsorship of Anantpura Sports Events Pvt Ltd, Rajasthan.
Earlier in the day, Naocha scored twice and Signorina converted a last ditch effort to help Sikkim Pandas carve out a 3-2 win against Arunachal Pradesh Tigers.
Naocha had put Sikkim Pandas ahead after 36 minutes with a brilliant finish before completing her brace in the 52nd minute as Arunachal Pradesh Tigers kept struggling to contain-the relentless Sikkim Panda's charges.
They however upped their ante after conceding two goals and clawed back into the game with Kai Rumi pulling back a goal late in the 77th minute.
Tamchi Soram then helped Arunachal Pradesh side draw level with an unexpected goal at the stroke of 80th minute.
The game looked to settle in a draw but Signorina dug deep into the stoppage time (80+2') to break the deadlock and seal the deal for Sikkim Pandas.
