1st MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament : Contrasting wins for TCMDC and TRAU

TCMDC, Thongju opened their Group A campaign in the 1st MNCAU-14 Boys Toumament today at PCC ground Mayaikoibi with a 76 run thrashing of MPA, Thounaojam.
The day also saw TRAU beat PCC by 4 runs for first win in two Group B league matches.
At PCC ground, TCMDC won the toss and piled up a big total of 229 runs for 6 in allotted 30 overs after winning the toss courtesy a half century by Maverick (64 off 63 balls) and notable contributions from other batters.
They successfully defended their total by restricting MPA to 153 for 7 to register first win in the tourney.
Maverick top-scored for TCMDC with 64 runs followed by Napolian Maibam (32), Takhellambam Nganba (27), Rain Urikhinbam (26), Laishram Valindra (21) and Sagolshem Rohest (20) .
MPA's Chongtham Albish, Suraj Mutum and Moramba Chongtham picked a wicket each in this innings before their chase was kept tight by concerted bowling effort of the Thongju team.
MPA's Thounaojam Suhan made the most of the strike by adding 54 runs off 77 balls and Moramba added 23 runs off 24 balls after they were reduced to 9 for 3 in 3.4 overs, but their efforts fell short to keep the chase on track.
For TCMDC, Rain Urikhinbam (2/30 in 6 overs) and Vishonath Laishram (2/ 19 in 6 overs) managed two wickets each as Laishram Valindra and Sagolshem Rojesh shared a wicket each besides maintaining a good economy.
Rain of TCMDC who scored 26 runs and picked two wickets was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at PTRC ground- Patsoi, TRAU who slumped to a 4 wicket loss to PTRC sealed a narrow 4 run victory against PCC.
Put in to bat first, TRAU posted a lowly total of 126 runs for 8 in 30 overs as
Indrakumar Sanjenbam anchored well to hit an unbeaten 47 off 74 balls despite his partners fell in regular interval.
PCC's Max Warokpam and Pravin Kumar snatched two wickets each in this innings while Chabungbam Paikhomba, Kangjamba, Lamnganba Nongmaithem and Pebam Yoimayai picked a wicket each.
Even as the batting department failed to make an impression today, TRAU bowlers did exceptionally well to bowl out PCC for 122 within 23.1 overs for the win.
Max Warokpam added the highest 20 runs for PCC in the chase as Preethson (3/31 in 6 overs), Gurumayum Shivestiaon Sharma (2/26 in 6 overs), Mutum Swabhiman (2/24 in 6 overs) and Laksh Ngangom (2/1 in 1.1 overs) ripped through their batting line up.
Sanjenbam Irdrakumar who shone with his batting performance also picked a wicket to walk away as the man of the match.
Tomorrow, Shadow CC will play YWC-L at PCC ground and PTCC, Patsoi will take on YPHU, Lalambung Makhong at PTRC ground..
