Imphal, July 19 2022:
All Manipur Agriculture Workers Union (AMAWU) has sought the attention of the relevant authorities to solve the ongoing issue o furea shortage in the State for the well-being of the farmers.
AMAWU in a press release urged the Government and authorities concerned to come up with immediate measures to ensure that farmers receive their due share of urea in a simple and easy manner.
The union also expressed concern that there is a high probability that the farmers might get infected with COVID-19 since the farmers have to stand in long queues to take tokens for a single bag of fertilizer at respective district agriculture offices which is really unfortunate.
The farmers are suffering amid this ripe period of cultivation season due to shortage of required urea to be used in the field and faulty distribution of the Agriculture Department and Minister concerned, alleged the Union.
In view of the above scenario, AMAWO appealed to the authorities to come up with special measures by allowing distribution of fertilizers through Block Development Offices and fertilizer agents across the State to alleviate the plights of the farmers at the earliest.
