Ranji Trophy 2021-22 : Manipur take 180-run lead after holding Mizoram to 127 on Day 2

Manipur added 110 runs to first innings tally of 197 runs at the cost of 5 wickets after having bundled neighbouring Mizoram out for a meagre 127 in 49.5 overs to take a 180 run lead at stumps on Day 2 at Jadavpur University Campus 2nd Ground, Kolkata.
Put in to bat first, Manipur had stacked up 197 runs losing all wickets within 66.3 overs yesterday thanks to Nitesh Sedai's knock of 95 runs on first class debut, skipper Narsingh Yadav's 47, Johnson Singh's 24 and unbeaten 21 added by Homendro Kambrambam.
The innings saw Mizoram's Taruwar Kohli fetching four wickets for 43 runs in 15 overs while Remruatdika Ralte managed two for 44 runs in 11 overs.
G Lalbiakvela, Iqbal Abdulla and Bobby Zothansanga also earned a wicket each in this innings.
Mizoram were 79/4 at stumps on Day 1 before being skitlled out for 127 runs within 49.5 overs today.
Iqbal Abdulla who was unbeaten on 40 on Day 1 managed to add only 1 runs on resuming the game today to Kangabam Priyojit Singh who finished with bowling figures 3/24 in 17 overs which contained 8 maidens.
Yesterday, Bishworjit Konthoujam had inflicted a heavy damage to Mizoram having removed opening partners of Mizoram, Lalhruaizela and Vikash Kumar on ducks before trapping Joseph Lalthankhuma lbw on 4 .
L Kishan Singha in the meantime swept the tailenders today removing Remruatdika Ralte on 6 and G Lalbiakvela on 1 to finish with 2/4 in 4.5 overs and triggered the Mizoram collapse.
Homendro Kabrambam and Nitesh Sedai also picked up a wicket each.
After bowling out Mizoram, Manipur had a shocking start to the second innings losing Bonny Chingangbam on 6-ball duck to Taruwar Kohli.
Taruwar Kohli also removed Nitesh Sedai (26), Langlonyamba Meitankeishangbam (4) and Narsingh Yadav (7) to remain with best bowling figure for Mizoram with 4/31 in 12 overs but Al Bashid's firm stand and unbeaten knock of 48 runs off 116 balls helped Manipur end the day on 110 for 5 in 40 overs with L Kishan Singha (0) on the other end of the crease.
Manipur have Johnson, Bishworjit Konthoujam, Kangabam Singh, Homendro Kabrambam yet to bat for the second innings.
