Imphal, February 25 2022:
Former BJP Manipur Pradesh chief spokesperson Ch Bijoy has filed a defamation suit against BJP candidate in Uripok assembly constituency Kh Raghumani.
While informing this to the media, Bijoy also expressed concern over the emerging trend of election, which, according to him, has diverted from issues while focusing on criticising one another like those in college elections.
Addressing a press meet at his Lamphel residence here on Friday, Bijoy said that election related violence has become a major issue in the state despite the efforts of ECI to make the election free and fair.
Candidates are rampantly using black money to woo voters.
Several people have also come down to the level of bonded labourers fearing the chances of losing the money which they had given to MLAs and ministers for job recruitments.
MLAs and ministers are using these people as if they are hostages.
It is rather quixotic to hear BJP calling itself as a party based on strict ideologies as core principles of the party have taken the back seat with the party leaders resorting to corrupt practices in selecting party candidates, Bijoy alleged.
He also compared BJP workers, who would be visiting house to house on the eve of the election, with "Saroi Ngaroi of Lamta Thangja", and Urged the public to stay away from them and exercise their voting rights wisely.
In the 2017 elections, BJP made promises of rooting out corruption, black money and take stringent actions against drug smugglers.
However, the party tailed to take up necessary steps to fulfil the promises.
Today, it is ignoring these three key issues.
The party also promised to bring metro train service from Senapati to Pallel, and from Churachan-dpur to Litan via Imphal but the BJP government never mentioned the project after winning the election, he maintained and contended that the BJP manifesto has undermined key issues concerning the state.
