Imphal, February 25 2022:
The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) observed its 43rd foundation anniversary on Friday (Feb 25) as 'Independence Demand Day' and extended revolutionary greetings to the people.
According to an RPF statement, the 'Independence Demand Day' observance was held in a low-key affair due to COVID-19 pandemic at its general headquarters, council headquarters, central bureau and divisions like SR-1, SR-2, SR-3, SR- 4 as also at People Liberation Army's general headquarters, tactical command, strategic command, 252 mobile battalion and other PLA units, departments and stations.
Outfit's flags, festoons and stars were erected and pasted in the areas falling under RPFs' central bureau divisions 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 in coordination with local people.
Highlights of the observance included honouring or party flag, paying homage to fallen revolutionaries and reading out RPF president Irengbam Chaoren's message delivered to people on the occasion.
Recounting some important points mentioned in president's message, the RPF statement issued by its deputy secretary publicity Roben Khumart reminded the people that it has no plan to hold talks with the government of India as of now.
RPF is fully aware that India's 'peace talk' at present is an administrative policy to cuff and keep the revolutionaries stagnant.
Some revolutionary groups of WESEA region, which believed in the 'peace talk' policy, have now completely fallen into India's trap and now unable to move forth or back off as is being witnessed by people of the region.
The 9-Point Agreement of 1947,16-Point Agreement of 1960, Shillong Accord of 1975 as well as more than six years old Framework Agreement between the Nagas and Indian government were agreements which compromised Naga people's sovereignty.
The Mizoram Peace Accord of 1986 and TNV's Tripartite Accord of 1988 too were accords which distorted sovereignty thoughts.
Apart from this, certain rights enjoyed by people of Jammu and Kashmir have been snatched away and a military like rule is being imposed.
In view of India's mindset of treating WESEA as an enemy by imposing draconian legislations like AFSPA, it would be impossible for WESEA nations to entertain the idea of holding 'peace talks' with India, the RPF statement said.
