The irate supporters of the NPF and the Independent candidate also attacked about 25 vehicles parked in the area.
It is reported that the condition of the three injured persons are critical.
Speaking to the media, Maring Napuiya Yinglam (MNY) president K Hoinu claimed that they rushed to the site of the clash to put the situation under control but their vehicles have also been vandalised by the supporters of the Independent candidate.
Meanwhile, the Maring Frontal Organisations, MFO (Maring Uparap Assembly, MUA; Maring Napuiya Yinglam, MNY and Maring Students' Union, MSU) have condemned the clash in the strongest term. In a joint statement Hoinu Charang, president of MNY and Shillei Morung, president MSU said that the incident happened when the supporters of Independent candidate Kohai Moshilpha attacked the MFO volunteers while they were mobilising the people to support the NPF candidate in 42-Tengnoupal (ST) AC.
The statement added that MFO has been trying to maintain an open, pluralistic, democratic and inclusive society which guarantees and protects the fundamental values and principle of living together.
Such hate crime perpetrated towards MFO is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms, it added.
