Imphal, February 25 2022:
Former BJP chief spokesperson Ch Bijoy has sent a legal notice to the BJP candidate in Uripok Assembly Constituency seeking Rs 10 crore as compensation for his alleged "defamatory" remarks about him.
Speaking to the media at his residence at Lamphel today, Ch Bijoy stated that Raghumani, the candidate had received the notice on February 19 and the candidate has to give the reply within 15 days.
Ch Bijoy continued that the BJP candidate in Uripok AC has to either give Rs 10 crore as compensation for his remark or tender an apology at the Court.
On the coming Assembly election, Ch Bijoy contended that the majority of the candidates don't focus on issues and agenda but rather carry out their campaign like a college election.
He also claimed that the Election Commission seems unconcerned about the large utilisation of black money by certain candidates though it calls for free and fair election.
Bijoy further claimed that many people are being engaged in election campaigning as they fear losing the money given to Ministers and MLAs for Government jobs.
Stating that BJP in Manipur seems to have forgotten the core agenda of the party, Bijoy alleged that the saffron party no longer stands against corruption and dynastic politics but provides shelter to those who are corrupt.
The BJP also didn't give tickets to the deserving candidates but only to those who can afford the 'price,' Bijoy alleged and accused the saffron party of dumping many of its aspirants after using their resources.
Further stating that the BJP didn't mention anything about corruption, AFSPA and ST in its manifesto, Bijoy asked why the BJP in Manipur doesn't speak against the hoarding of black money.
