Kangpokpi, February 25 2022:
A prayer meet cum press conference for a 'Free and Fair Election' was organised by Kangpokpi Town Church Fellowship (KTCF) in collaboration with All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) on Friday at Kangpokpi Christian Church.
AMCO president Rev S Prim Vaiphei said that in an era full of corruption the Christian community, especially the Church and religious leaders must not compromise our faith and principles with worldly things rather stand firm and united for truth and against all evil things.
Quoting a famous saying, "when money speaks, truth is silent', the AMCO president said that truth, in our society, has no voice at all now while adding, "in Manipur it is not money alone that shuts the mouth of truth but bullet as well because when bullet speaks, truth is silent in Manipur".
"In such a corrupted society, Christians are the people who should stand firm for the truth even unto death," he added.
Rev S Prim Vaiphei said that candidates who practice booths capturing, forcing people to vote for them, asking or encouraging people to vote even in the names of the deceased people, proxy/bogus voting, can never be Gods anointed people.
He continued that candidates having such plans should not ask the Church to pray for them and even if they are successful by indulging in such evil practices, they should not include the Church leaders and the Church itself in their felicitation because if they do that it will be a kind of abomination to the Lord and an act of sacrilege.
Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship and AMCO strongly appealed to all the denizens of Manipur, Christian community in particular, civil bodies, political parties and their respective candidates not to indulge in any kinds of evil acts and malpractice.
The prayer meet was also attended by Rev Dr Nipamacha, vice president AMCO, Rev Dr Lalpi, president TCLF, Rev Helari Lhanghu, member AMCO, and Bishop Jeremiah, Churches leaders of Kangpokpi town, Rev J Lunkim, pastor KCC, Rev K Hangshing, chairman KTCF, Rev Fr Janggin Chongloi, secretary KTCF, pastor Satminthang, and Rev Haopu.
