Two rape accused sent to judicial custody

The Judicial Magistrate First Class Imphal West-1 today remanded two rape accused to judicial custody for allegedly raping a mentally unstable lady on February 20 at Hao Maning Loukon, Konthoujam.
The accused persons, Nahakpam Mani (60) of Konthoujam Maning Makha Leikai and Khadambam Sanaton (47), son of Kullabidhu of New Keithelmanbi were produced before the Court after the completion of police custody period today.
In today's hearing, the IO of the case submitted to the Court that the mother of the victim had lodged a complaint on February 20 about the crime committed to her mentally unstable daughter on the said day by the accused persons.
In the complaint, the victim's mother stated that the accused persons called out her daughter and taken to a meadow of Hao Maning Loukon and allegedly raped by Khadambam Sanaton at the instance of Nahakpam Mani, the IO submitted.
The mother also stated that their act of crime was caught red handed by the locals of the area, the IO submitted.
Acting on the complaint, the accused were arrested and during the interrogation, the accused admitted to have committed the heinous crime, submitted the IO and prayed the court to grant judicial custody remand of the accused persons.
After perusing the case record and hearing the submission of the IO, the Court ordered the accused be remanded to judicial custody till March 11 .
