Linthoinganbi Kangjei Lup, Meiraba Polo Club win as 37th Men's State Level Polo Tourney kicks off

The 37th Men's State Level Polo Tournament kicked off today with Lingthoinganbi Kangjei Lup (LKL) registering a 4-2 win over Chingkheihunba Polo Club-B (CHPC-B) to move into last 16 stage.
The day also saw Meiraba Polo Club (MPC) edging out Ibudhou Marjing Polo Team (IMPT) 3-2 in a low scoring encounter of the 26 team knock-out tournament organised by the All Manipur Polo Association at its ground at Iroishemba.
The opening match was a one sided affair till the break as Omesh Gurung handed LKL a slender 1-0 lead till the first chukker before L Rohit Singh and S Dollar added a goal each in the second chukker to take the lead to 3-0 till halfway.

Th Santosh of CHPC-B pulled back a goal in the third chukker before N Alex restored LKL's three goal cushion in the opening minute of the last chukker.
Th Manisana then scored the second and the last goal for CHPC-B in the last minute of the final chukker.
LKL will now play MPSC-B next in a pre-quarter final match on March 14 .
Meanwhile, Md Amir scored a treble including the golden goal to fire MPC 3-2 past IMPT today in a thrilling second match of the tournament which was decided in the extra chukker after the two sides were locked at 2-2 till four chukkers.
IMPT got off to a promising start with Sankar Nongthombam scoring twice back to back in the first chukker but their hope of making it to the last 16 round faded away as they failed to scored in the remaining chukkers and the score were brought to level terms with Md Amir Khan scoring in the second and the sixth minute of the final chukker.
Md Amir Khan then settled the issue scoring the golden goal in the additional chukker.
They will meet either Arbind Polo Club-A or SAN Polo Club in the last 16 stage on March 14 .
