Agents of these products are making enormous efforts to continue the business and in the process is giving a serious impact in the society particularly in health and economy and this compelled the outfit to take the extreme step, the statement said and appealed to black sheep sections of the society to discard the business for the sake of the society. The outfit further said that the quantity of betel leaves being brought into Manipur from outside is so huge and this indicates that entire indigenous people of the land are addicted to chewing of betel leaves and nuts with tobacco and its consequences would not be good for the future generation of the land.
Accordingly, the outfit could not remain silent and started identifying those doing the business including some indigenes.
The outfit then asked those doing the business to surrender within five days or else face the consequences.
