Thoubal, March 08 2022:
BJP Wangjing Tentha Mandal president Oinam Sunil has refuted the allegations that BJP workers assaulted INC agent during re-poll at polling station number 34/9 Wangjing Hodamba of Wangjing Tentha assembly constituency conducted on Tuesday.
Addressing a press meet at the Mandal office on Tuesday, Sunil said that the allegation levelled by INC candidate Moirangthem Hemanta is baseless and it is an attempt to tarnish the image of MLA Paonam Brojen.
One Takhellambam Inao of Kairembikhok was assigned as INC's agent during the re-poll and nobody assaulted him.
As per report received by the Mandal, there was an incident of local people assaulting one Laimujam Babumacha of Tentha, a rifleman of 2nd IRB, after he was caught distributing cash in favour of the INC candidate.
The BJP Mandal is not related with the incident, he said.
He also charged INC workers of carrying out proxy voting at polling station number 1 to 7 during the phase-II poll on March 5, and there were incidents of INC supporters assaulting BJP workers and burning a house just before the poll ing day.
Hemanta is hiding those incidents and demanding re-poll in Wangjing areas, he said while expressing suspicion of the general observer working in favour of the INC candidate.
He also appealed to the people of the constituency to be aware of the lies being spread by the INC candidate.
