MASLSA organises panel discussion / interactive session

A one-day panel discussion cum interactive session was organized today by Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) on the occasion of International Women's Day 2022 at the Conference Hall, ADR Building, Lamphel Court Complex.
Addressing the gathering, Ojesh Mutum, Member Secretary, MASLSA highlighted that the main objective of the programme is to raise awareness on women's equality and accelerate gender parity in tandem with this year's International Women's Day 2022 theme "Gender equality for a sustainable tomorrow", said a press release by MASLSA.
"This is inspired by the collective spirit of gender balanced society by breaking all the biases in our attempt to secure and celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
With the objective of creating women's equality, MASLSA has started multi-faceted facilities for accessing the various issues of women vis-a-vis the progress we have achieved as a society collectively," he added.

Professor Elangbam Bijoykumar Singh, Professor, Department of Economics, Manipur University spoke on the topic "Role and status of women in economic empowerment" and Shreema Ningombam, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Nambol Sanoi College shared her observations on "Gender discrimination and gender violence" .
While Dr Wahengbam Rebecca Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Psychology, RIMS spoke on "Psychosocial support for women victims" and Hajabam Shubhra Devi, Proprietor, Meira Foods also addressed on the topic "Women in entrepreneurship" .
The said panel discussion was moderated by Dr G Amarjit Sharma, Assistant Professor, Special Centre for the Study of North East India, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.
The programme was also attended by judicial officers, lawyers, para legal volunteers, staff and functionaries of legal services.
A one on one interaction was held between the participants and the resource persons and discussed the issues and problems faced by women so as to work out ways and strategies to deal with such issues in collaboration with all the relevant stakeholders, added the press release.
