Choreography competition celebrates Women's Day

Commemorating the International Women's Day-2022; DPO, ICDS Cell of Senapati along with NYK Senapati organised an inter-tribe women choreography competition at the conference hall of Maram Union, Senapati under the theme 'Break the Bias' on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by Naga Women's Union president Asha Wungnam, women leaders of the district and staff of ICDS Cell, Senapati.
DPO, Senapati LD Chasiiru explained that International Women's Day is celebrated on this day to commemorate the cultural, political and socio economic achievements of women.
The day also focuses on women's rights for gender equality as empowerment of women needs to go through lanes of educating both men and women.
Naga Women's Union president Asha Wungnam spelled out the reason for celebrating the Day and stressed the need to impart education to girl child for betterment of the society and providing opportunities to them when they grew up in the society.
As part of the celebration, ICDS Cell, Senapati also handed over cash rewards with citation to 24 meritorious girls in appreciation of their academic excellence and to four outstanding female sports-persons of the district.
Troupes of Maram, Mao, Thangal and Zeliangrong tribes took part in the Inter-Tribe Women Choreography competition.
The first position was wrested by Thangal tribe while Maram tribe bagged the second position and Mao tribe secured the third position.
