Repoll held amid tight security across 7 PSs

Amid tight security arrangements, repoll was held at seven polling stations of five Assembly segments today.
Taking serious note of disturbances reported during the second phase of election held on March 5, the Chief Electoral Officer ordered repoll at seven polling stations namely; 34/9 Wangjing Hodamba, 44/45 Ukhrul (E-2), 45/25 Kalhang, 45/31 Peh (B), 47/49 Ngamju, 49/4 Yangkhullen (A) and 49/51 Mao Marafii.
Even as voting started at 7 am, voter turnout at 34/9 Wangjing Hodamba Junior High School polling station was very low.
The security arrangement was so tight that even media persons who were in possession of identity cards issued by the ECI were not allowed inside the premises of the polling station.

Maintaining that they were given strict instruction not to allow anyone within the polling station premises except election observers, security forces did not allow journalists to take photographs or videos of the polling process.
Even voters were subjected to stringent checking.
Poll percentage at the particular polling station was pegged at 65.7 per cent which is quite low when compared to the 92.90 per cent recorded on March 5 .
The District Magistrate, Ukhrul clamped CrPC 144 around 44/45 Ukhrul (E) Khampasom, 45/25 Kalhang and 45/31 Peh (B) polling stations today so as to ensure peaceful polling.
Till 4 pm, Ukhrul (E) recorded poll percentage of 56.21 per cent, Kalhang 71.4 per cent and Peh (B) 78.8 per cent.
Polling was still going on at 44/45 Ukhrul (E) Khampasom polling station till the time of filing this report.
