Book release marks Women's Day event

The Readers Collective, in association with Waikhom Mani Girl's College Students' Union and Thoubal Keithel Phambi Mathak Makha Apunba observed International Women's Day at Thoubal Keithel by releasing a book written by late Thoibi Devi.
Speaking on the occasion, author Jugol Sai noted that despite efforts of revolutionary minded people to mitigate socio-economic issues besetting the society contemporary world is seeing the capitalist class suppressing the commoners politically, socially and economically.
Moreover, men continue to oppress women folk, he said and called upon women, students, youth and other oppressed people to strive for eradicating the capitalist system to bring about a complete change and move towards an egalitarian society.
The observance was attended by Vision Creative of Sciences, Thoubal Okram founder Tekcham Nandalal, MU Department of Law faculty Nameirakpam Brajakanta, research scholar Sajabam Sanamacha find Thoubal Keithel Phambi Mathak Makha Apunba secretary Akoijam Budhimati Devi among others.
Copies of the book were then distributed among the students and women vendors at Thoubal Keithel free of cost.
Meanwhile, DM College of Arts in collaboration with Thambal Marik College, Oinam observed International Women's Day at Rotary Club conference hall located at Mantripukhri.
The observance was attended by DM University vice chancellor Prof N Rajmuhon, DM College of Arts principal Dr Ch Sheelaramani, Manipur State Commission for Women former chairperson Prof Ch Jamini and Thambal Marik College principal Dr Th Binarani as presidium members, while Human Rights Manipur executive director Babloo Loitongbam was the guest speaker.
