International Women's Day observed across the State

International Women's Day 2022 was celebrated across the State by various organisations today under different themes.
KVK Chandel
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel organised International Women's Day 2022 today under the theme 'Empowering Women Farmers with Skill and Knowledge' .
The programme was chaired by Ksh Prabha Devi, DHO, Chandel; Martha Monsang, women church leader; Monsang Pantha and Dr Asem Ameeta Devi, head i/c KVK Chandel as presidium members, said a statement issued by KVK Chandel.
The programme was also attended by different women from different villages of Chandel district.
Dr Y Prabhabati Devi, ACTO (Home Science) elaborated on the role of women in agriculture and entrepreneurship development for empowering women.

She also emphasized on the income generating activities for women farmers by attaining skill and knowledge of agro processing and value addition.
Dr Asem Ameeta Devi spoke on the women's empowerment and development of women entrepreneurs for better socio-economic development.
The programme ended with an exhibition of the product produced by the women entrepreneurs and women farmers.
The programme also highlighted the role of women in agriculture and encouraged the women farmers to get skill and knowledge from KVK and other institutes like CAU and ICAR regional centres through various training and demonstration programmes so as to increase their skill for employment and income generation in a sustainable way.
Don Bosco College, Maram
The 13th International Women's Day' was also observed in DBC Maram under the theme 'break the bias' during the morning assembly of the students under the guidance of Sr Roseline and Madam Rana Margaret.
District Legal Service Authority (DLSA, Thoubal/Tamenglong)
International Women's Day was also observed by DLSA Thoubal and Tamenglong today.
An essay competition on the topic 'Livelihood and Empowerment of Women' was also held in Tamenglong.
The competition carried a cash prize of Rs 3000, 2000 and 1000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders.
The celebration at Thoubal was attended by Binny Ngangom, Chairperson, DLSA, Thoubal; Bineshwori Maibam, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal and Kh Arunkumar Singh, vice-president, Thoubal District Bar association attended as presidium members.
On her speech, Binny Ngangom talked about how women were sexually exploited in casting couch for years without speaking up and the evident rise of #metoo movement when women spoke about their experiences.
She also talked about why the Domestic Violence act, 2005 to encounter the abuse and assaults of women domestically by the husband and in-laws.
Tengnoupal
Weaker Section Development Council (WSDC), South Eastern Rural Development Society (SERDS) and Tengnoupal Area Women SHG Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd (TAWSMUCOS) jointly observed the day at Tengnoupal village community hall on the theme 'Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow' .
Jiribam
The day was also observed at PWD guest house at Babupara in Jiribam today organised by One Stop Centre, Jiribam under the theme 'Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow' .
It was attended by Addl SP Jiribam Ak Sadananda Singh (MPS); One Stop Centre Jiribam ,Centre Administrator , H Chandrabala Chanu; Child Welfare Community ,Jiribam Chairperson, M Maipaksana Singh and Jiribam CD Block ,BMM,W Premchand Singh as presidium members.
Mao
Echoing the theme 'Break the Bias', the NSS and the Women Cell of Asufii Christian Institute (ACI), Mao jointly observed the International Women's Day celebration at Mao.
