Re-poll in Ukhrul, Senapati concludes peacefully

UKL/SNPT: Re-poll at three polling stations in Ukhrul district and three in Senapati district concluded peacefully amid tight security on Tuesday.
Re-poll was conducted at two polling stations 45/25 Kalhang and 45/31 Peh (B) under Chingai assembly constituency and one polling station 44/45 Ukhrul (E-2) under Ukhrul assembly constituency from 7 AM till 4 PM.
Voter turnout of 78.15 per cent was recorded at Ukhrul (E-2) polling station where 962 voters including 450 male and 512 female electors, cast their votes out of the total of 1231 voters, At Kalhang booth, voter turnout of 72.43 per cent was recorded with 528 voters including 269 male and 259 female voters, exercising their franchise out of 729 electors.
Polling percentage of 79.52 was reported at Peh (B) polling station.
Out of 952 voters, a total of 757 voters including 383 female electors cast their votes.
In view of the re-poll and.
counting scheduled for March 10, the district magistrate, Ukhrul had promulgated prohibitory orders across the district effective from Monday 7 pm till 7 pm of March 10 .
Meanwhile, the total voter turnout in the second phase of Manipur Assembly elections held on March 5 in the three assembly constituencies of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts has been pegged above 80 per cent.
According to an official report released late Tuesday evening, Chingai AC and Ukhrul AC recorded 87.31 per cent and 83.17 per cent turnout respectively, while it is 89.67 per cent in Phungyar AC.
Meanwhile, re-poll in Senapati district also ended peacefully.
Polling officials assigned duty at 49/51 Mao Marafii polling stations arrived at the DC office by the time of filing this report while officials of other two polling stations are reportedly on their way.
Out of 1055 voters, 47/49 Ngamju polling station recorded 85.59 per cent turnout while 49/4 Yangkhullen (A) and 49/51 Mao Marafii reported 76 per cent and 83.52 per cent voting out of 789 and 91 electors respectively.
