Inter-tribe women choreography competition held

Commemorating the International Women's Day, 2022, the DPO, ICDS Cell and NYK, Senapati organised an Inter-Tribe Women Choreography competition at Conference Hall of Maram Union Secretariat under the theme, "Break the bias" .
The programme was attended by Asha Wungnam, president, Naga Women's Union as the guest of honour in the presence of other women leaders of the district including staff of ICDS Cell,
Senapati.
LD Chasiiru, DPO, ICDS Cell, Senapati stated that the day is globally celebrated annually on this day to commemorate the culture, political and socio-economic achievements of women.
While expressing her gratitude to all tribe women leaders for their cooperation, the DPO, ICDS Cell asserted to break the bias in the community.
"Together, we can all break the bias on International Women's Day and beyond," she mentioned.
Speaking on the theme exposition, Jennifer Serto, supervisor, Saitu-Gamphazol ICDS Project stated that the day is observed at various levels including Senapati.
The day signifies the achievements women's role played in their lives to make realise the importance of women and their capabilities.
All priorities were given to men folks during the olden days compared to the present age.
With the world getting developed, the need for women empowerment and their services are also slowly getting into place at present.
Even women or girls excel than men or boys in different spheres at present when they are given the platform.
A society would be better with participation of both men and women to change the society, she said asking all not to discourage when a girl child is born into a family but to call it fortunate to have born a girl child in a family.
Along the celebration of the International Women's Day, the ICDS Cell, Senapati also handed over a cash award with citation to 24 meritorious awards for girls' toppers in academic session and 4 meritorious girls' sports persons of the district.
4 different tribes of the district including the Maram, Mao, Thangal and Zeliangrong tribes took part in the Inter-Tribe Women Choreography competition on the day.
The first position was handed over to the Thangal tribe, second to Maram and third to Mao tribe.
3 ladies from different tribes were the judges for the competition including YK.
