State celebrates International Women's Day

International Women's Day was observed in different parts of the state on Tuesday by various organisations and institutions.
The celebration was organised by Social Welfare Department; DESAM; Federal Students' Organisation Kangleipak (FESOK); Wakhallon Mannaba Apunba (WAMA) Kangleipak; NIMPAL; All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMWVA); All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM); Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC); 44 Assam Rifles; Kontha Khabam Gram Panchayat VLF; The League of Women; Ima Leisana Women Street Vendors Welfare Union; United NGOs Mission Manipur; Regional CRPF Family Welfare Association Group Centre CRPF Langjing; Wild Forest Institute of Skill Development; Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) Manipur Prant; DLSA, Chandel, DLSA, Thoubal, KVK Chandel; Numei SHG Multipurpose Cooperative Society (NUSMUCOS) Limited; The Green Foundation, Imphal; Kanglamei Ima Lup (KIL) and United College Chandel.
The state level observance was organised by Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and CARE India at The Classic Hotel, North AOC here with Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes chairperson in-charge Dr Tara Manchin Hangzo as chief guest and MSCW chairperson in-charge Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang as president, while Social Welfare director Ngangom Uttam, MSCW members Lourembam Dayabati and T Chongshin Koireng were present as guests of honour.
In connection with the women's day and SBI SHG Maha Login Day (Credit linkage through MSRLM), a total of 103 SHGs were sanctioned loan amounting to Rs 1,75,00,000 in total.
As per a release, the sanctioned letters were hand ed over by additional chief secretary P Paulunthang Vaiphei, NABARD GM Dr M Srinivasa Rao, and RBO Imphal RM Grindra Sarma and other officials of MSRLM to the beneficiaries during a function at Sekmai.
On the other hand, AMWVA celebrated International Women's Day on the theme 'Let us carry the Struggle Forward' at JN Manipur Dance Academy and AMNM at Irawat Bhawan under the theme 'Stop Discrimination against Girls and Women'.
Similarly, BVP Manipur Prant along with Eastern Motors celebrated the day at Nexa Showroom, Chingmeirong and MHRC at imperial hall, Classic Grande with its acting chairman Khaidem Mani as chief guest.
League of Women organised the celebration at Nupi Lal Memorial Complex, United NGOs Mission Manipur at RTC, Langol Laimanai and Regional CRPF Family Welfare Association at Group Centre Langjing.
The Green Foundation, Imphal in collaboration with Thoubal Multipurpose Project Neglected Area Agricultural Development Organisation (TMPNADO) celebrated the day under the theme 'Break the Bias' at Pungdongbam Awang Mamang Leikai community hall.
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Thoubal under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority commemorated International Women's Day at the conference hall of District & Sessions Court Complex, Thoubal at Khangabok while KIL celebrated the day at Manipur Press Club.
Meanwhile, PRO (Defence) informed that in connection with International Women's Day, 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/IGAR (East) inaugurated Mahila Shed at its headquarters complex on Tuesday.
During the programme, IGAR (East) HQ Dy IG led the unit in paying floral tribute to Rani Gaidinliu, the greatest woman freedom fighter from Tamenglong.
Similarly, United College IQAC, Lambung, Chandel organised the celebration at College's Science Block, a release by United College IQAC principal/chairman Dr BD Thumdal said.
As per another release, KVK Chandel organised International Women's Day 2022 on the theme 'Empowering Women Farmers with Skill and Knowledge' at its premises at Monsang Pantha, Chandel.
On the other hand, on the occasion of International Women's Day 2022, a cultural meet was organised by Numei SHG Multipurpose Cooperative Society (NUSMUCOS) Limited with the support of Centre for Women and Girls (CWG) and Terres des Hommes (TDH), Germany at Tuinom community hall, Tengnoupal district.
The programme was participated by women and youth from as many as six different communities living in Chandel and Tengnoupal districts, namely Aimol, Tarao, Thadou Kuki, Chothe, Lamkang, and Maring.
The state wide observances held under the common theme of 'Gender Equality Today for Sustainable Tomorrow' was marked by felicitation of successful women of the state, awareness rallies on women rights, cultural performances and games, observing a two-minute silence in memory of departed women leaders, distribution of edibles to old age homes and meira paibi activists, exhibition of products produced by women entrepreneurs and sharing feasts.
International Women's Day was also celebrated by Sakhi One Stop Centre Kakching at Library and Information Centre auditorium, and by Mayeng Lamjao GP at its office.
Similarly, District Administration Chandel, One Stop Centre Chandel and DPO Chandel jointly celebrated the day at One Stop Centre, Mini Secretariat Complex.
On the occasion of International Women's Day, Mayanglambam Diana was also conferred with the title of 'Wonder Woman 2022' by Team-Bharati and Ideal of Humanity & Compassion, New Delhi.
