State players bring home 7 medals from 6th Asian Pencak Silat C'ship

State players won as many as 8 medals including 1 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals for India at the 6th Asian Pencak Silat Championship which was held from October 11 to 17 at Sher-E-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar by Indian Pencak Silat Federation under the aegis of Asian Pencak Silat Federation.
The lone goal medallist from Manipur at the continental event was Naorem Boynao who finished top in the men's semi-artistic creative solo event to open India's account.
In the women's 45 kg tending event, Shamjetshabam Bidyaluxmi Devi went down to Nur Tuhfah Izzah Binte MD Roslang of Singapore in the final to settle for a silver medal.
Yaikhom Anjali also won a silver medal for India as she went down to Le Thi Van Anh of Vietnam in the 60 kg tending final.
The pair of Sinam Chingkhei and Sinam Jeevan won a bronze medal in the men's semi-artistic doubles (ganda) category.
The other bronze medallists from Manipur are Ahongshangbam Sarjubala (65 kg Tending), Huidrom Bishan (65kg Tending) and Thounaojam Rita Devi (50kg Tending) .
Vietnam were crowned overall team champions as Singapore emerged first runners up and Malaysia finished second runners up.
Hosts India amassed 4 gold, 11 silver and 25 bronze medals.
President of Pencak Silat Association of Manipur, Laishram Shyamkumar and association secretary, Laishram Ranjit have expressed happiness over the achievement of the State players at the championship.
