Assessment camp for senior citizens, PwDs held

Ukhrul district administration in collaboration with District Disability & Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), District Social Welfare, District Health Society, Ukhrul and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), which is under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, organised an assessment camp for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PwDs) for distribution of kits and appliances at DRDA Hall on Monday.
A total of 203 senior citizens and 67 PWDs attended the assessment camp to avail the facilities.
The visiting doctors from ALIMCO based in Guwahati examined the beneficiaries in person.
Tri-Cycle, Wheel Chair, Cerebral Palsy Chair, Elbow Crutch, Walking Stick, Hearing Aid, Power Glass, Smart Cane, Smart Phone, Mixed Kit, etc., were some of the items the beneficiaries will receive.
Ukhrul deputy commissioner Krishna Kumar, who initiated the camp, is planning to hold two more camps in the district at Awang Kasom for Chingai and Jessami block on October 18 and another at Zalenbung on October 20 for LM block.
The camp is being organised under the Rastriya Vayoshree Yojana (RVY) and ADIP scheme.
