Body exhumed, two arrested

Singngat police has arrested the prime accused and his accomplice in the murder case of one M Gousuanlal (M Lal) whose body was exhumed on Monday at Kamdou Veng Cemetery by a forensic team under the supervision of the district magistrate.
M Lal's body was reportedly found near Singngat Cemetery along with his Bolero vehicle which was retrieved from a rivulet.
According to police, initially the family members of the deceased were unsuspicious of any foul play but after the United Zou Organization (UZO) filed a complaint with the Singngat police station a case was registered and a prompt investigation unearthed a con spiracy against the victim, leading to his killing.
A CDR/SDR examination of the mobile handset of the deceased led to the revelation of prima facie evidence against the accused persons for commission of the crime.
Further, the statement of the main accused Chinminthang (27), s/o Khamzakap Manlun of Belpuan village, Singngat Sub-Division, Churachandpur, revealed that the he hit Chinminthang's head three times using a firewood log due to a misunderstanding at his residence at Belpuan village.
The accused also revealed that he along with his accomplices abandoned the body near Singngat Cemetery to make their crime appear like a road accident.
Two suspects have been arrested in this connection so far.
