1st MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament : PIRC crush Shadow CC by 10 wickets, finish Group A winners

PTRC, Patsoi notched up five of five victories in the 1 st MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament Group A competition to enter semi-finals as group winners.
In the penultimate group stage match staged here at PTRC ground, the home team bowled out Shadow CC, Thangmeiband for 97 runs in 28.1 overs courtesy a concerted bowling attack led by Benson Yumnam and chased down the target within 14.2 overs without any loss for the fifth win on trot.
Electing to bat first, Shadow CC had a horrible start to their innings and slipped to 21 for 4 after 10 overs as Laitonjam James found the breakthrough with Sagatpam Lanchenba (2) hitting the ball straight to him in the 3rd over, Tyrus Chabung (4) bowled and caught by star of the day Benson Yumnam and Salam Richie scalping wickets of Devish Khunjamayum (1) and S Telheiba (1) .
Opening batter Thomsan who had been holding on then forged a 50 run fifth wicket partnership with Arubam Goshan to make it 91 for 5 in 24.4 overs as Goshan was bowled out for 7 by L James.
The very next over saw Thomsan depart for 47 to Henba Paonam and Benson Yumnam Pebam Leishemba and Semson both in the 27th over on ducks to restrict Shadow CC to 92 for 8.Henba then completed his double removing Tomthinnganba Raj Kumar for 1 in the 28th over before Benson bowled out Rohan for 2-ball duck to wrap up the innings.
Needing just 98 runs for the win, Salam Richie (34 off 37 balls, 5 four and 1 six) and Robinson Sougaijam (51 off 52 balls, 9 fours) confidently took on the Shadow CC bowlers by rotating strikes and hitting big whenever they got chances to help PTRC post a winning 98 in 14.2 overs.
Benson Yumnam who clinched four wickets for 7 runs in his spell of 4.1 overs was adjudged man of the match.
With the end of the Group stage, PTRC finished on top with 10 points as TCMDC, Thongju finished runners up with 8 points in 5 matches.
Meanwhile, ESU are Group B winners with four of four group stage wins and PTCC finished second with 4 points from 2 wins.
