FSA conducts surveillance campaign to check adulteration of edible oil

Bishnupur today conducted a surveillance drive and surveillance sampling collection of edible oil to check them for adulteration.
The edible oil samples were collected from the main markets of Oinam Bazar and Bishnupur Bazar by a team consisting of Sougaijam Surendro Singh, Food Safety Officer and Dr Nongalei Pebam, Food Safety Officer, Bishnupur.
It may be noted that the surveillance campaign was conducted in compliance with the office memorandum issued by Dr Sonia Oinam, Deputy Secretary, Health & Family Welfare on july 29 to check adulteration of edible oils for a period of two weeks from August 1 to 14 .
The surveillance campaign was conducted with the objective to check limits of trans-fatty acids, labelling provisions and mandatory AGMARK license for Multi-Source Edible Oil (MSEO) and enforcement of prohibition on sale of loose edible oils, thereby ensuring availability of safe, nutritious and quality edible oil to consumers.
