House passes 5 demands for grants

On the eight day of the 12th Legislative Assembly, the House unanimously passed 5 demands for grants amounting to Rs 25,747,551,000 .
The demands for grants are Land Revenue, Stamps and Registration and District Administration (Rs 1,373,378,000); Finance Department (Rs 23,627,513,000); State Excise (Rs 135,103,000); Sales Tax, Other Taxes/Duties on Commodities & Services (Rs 68,355,000); and Art & Culture (Rs 543,202,000) .
Leader of the House, CM N Biren, who also holds the Finance portfoIio, assured that suitable regulation in connection with land purchase and sales policy will be framed and implemented effectively.
The government is taking up necessary steps for digitization of land records in the state.
The government will see to taking up steps for relief of the families evicted in recent times on humanitarian ground, he added.
He also informed that Rs 1100 crore is earmarked as state matching share for central sponsored projects amounting up to Rs 9000 crore.
Borrowing by the government depends on the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), he explained.
Opposition MLAs K Meghachandra Singh, Th Lokeshwar Singh, K Ranjit and Surjakumar Okram moved policy cut motions for disapproval for demands for grands, while MLA Ram Muivah and MLA M Rameshwar shared their observations during the discussion.
In his observation, MLA Ram Muivah remarked that there will be no changes in the state's revenue with just the money sanctioned by the central government without private investors.
There are many talented youths in Manipur in the held of IT, hospitality, pharmaceutical, education and others.
The youth of Manipur are making huge contributions in companies outside the state.
Thus, private investors should be roped in to invest in the state, which will aid in solving the problem of unemployment and poor financial conditions of the state, he said.
